Hey all,
My question is, what is the point to these new supposed adult only conferences? People are still going to discuss inappropriate topics in the public conferences and in private conferences. so why create separate areas for adults only? If people don't like what they hear in a conference they shouldn't be there in the first place. anyway, those are my thoughts. I'd like to hear yours.
agreed, and what's up with that anyways, if there gonna do that for the adults they should do the same for us teens, but whatever..i thill don't see a point, if people wanna discuss "adult" things than what are privconferences for?
*agreed.
its the users choice, you know. But, I guess it just gives people more options.
It somewhat goes against the hole "we're not your parents" thing on the front page. lmao.
But what ever...
We used to have this on ventrilo, but the teen rooms were hardly if ever used. The adult chanels were quite a bit, but mostly when people wished to avoid the more obnoxious teens, those more intellegent and fun to talk to, were joined back in standard rooms when they were seen on the system. It was however Ithink easier to see who logged in and out of ventrilo, so people knew when somone was hanging around hoping for someone to chat to.
I don't agree with the zbp adult rooms if they are to be for over 21. the only thing I'm aware that you need to be 21 for is alcohol and gambling in parts of the USA, the rest of the world sees 18 as the adult separator.
I am amuse in some ways by this, as the only person I've ever heard bitching about teens is andrea, and like the rest of us, she doesn't have to stay in a conference.
think its all pointless in my oppinion but there you go just my point
I also don't see the point of the adult only rooms. The idea of the zone is to be a community and I thaught they didn't really want clicks. i know they do happen, and not much they can do about that. but seperating people by age is asking for it to happen more regularly! If teens or whoever don't like what is being said in one room, or channel, they can leave and go to one of five different ones. But obviously chris did this for a reason. curious to what this reasoning may be.

and to a point its a waist of good conf rooms that can be used.
like if a conf gets crowded and you and a couple of people want to move somewhere else but don't want to set up a privconf.
and I also agree with kev. 21 is a bit much.
I agree with Kevin on this about the age. I got a really rood greeting I felt when I went up to conf 7 yesterday from a user I will leave anonymous but I felt it out of line. It is one thing to joke with someone but to be greeted with “Cory are you over 21?" I feel that it is over board. I really don't understand this as I thought that is why I then agree with Shea and others on this that isn't that what private conferences were created for if someone wants to get away from someone else or others? I do agree with the question shouldn't there be rooms for the teens as well then? Do you not see this forming clicks and directly conflicting with the line and I quote "Please note that we prefer not to censor our member’s thoughts, and believe in freedom of speech. There are options to ignore most forms of communication if you choose not to participate, and we encourage you to make your own decisions as to what you view as acceptable content. We are not your parents." If we are going to have three conferences setup for people over 21 then where does the crowd that is between 18 and 21 as they are considered adults under the law too? Then what about rooms for the teens? What happened to the fact of public being just that public and that of witch is for people as a hole and is made up of a dynamic group of people and is made up of everyone as a hole? Not like I am advocating for people for any other reason but the fact that I believe that anyone should be able to talk to anyone they want at any time! My next question is if conferences seven to nine are for over the age of 21 why wasn't there a news update on the site at login or a validation of age dun or even a update greeting on zone BBS by phone? I see this as a problem because the only way I found out was when I got asked then Chris backed up the question and now I see a board about it. I even said to Chris about this that why wasn't there ever a news update or age validation dun with this? I really want to see others thoughts on this and even move to see a vote taken by the members if it should stay that you have to be over 21 to use rooms seven to nine or not. Please feel free to e-mail me on this as I will add your name to a list according to your vote to see the amount that wish to keep it as it is and who wishes to see it changed. I will take the lists to the administrators on next Monday at 11:59 PM
I agree, what is with this anyways. did we forget about private confs? and you know, they can be locked. so why create three more confs where no one is going to get into except for adults. I agree also with james. this kind goes against the whole "we're not your parrents thing." lmao
anyways, if you have them for adults, what about the teens? I mean come on..., we're people too lol.

plus, now he's made it so age limits can be set in private confrences as well, and, the creater of the conf can kick everyone out as well. i don't understand any of this, and i agree with the others. if you want to talk about "adult issues" isn't that what private confrences are for? i think rooms 7 8 and 9 should just be like the rest of them. public and open to everyone, cause of the age limit on the private confrences. oh, and one more thing. What's with kicking everyone out of the private conf and completely off the system? Cant it just put them back in the confrence menue?
I think that the 7 8 and 9 are anoying. I have to agree with kev. Most of the world sees 18 as adult. Even most things in the U.S. are 18 andup accept x rated movies and drining. You can be eighteen to go in to an adult book store though. If you want to keep them go down to sixteen or eighteen would be my thought. As for the private conference. I don't know about kicking everyone, but I can se where it would be handy if you wanted to talk to someone and someelse figured out the code. I think kicking them is ok... My personal oppinion.
yes, but everyone, and off the system completely? that's a bit extreme if you ask me, just to get rid of one person.
Well, here's how it can work. If no one uses the conferences that were created for 21 and over, then they'll either go away, or just will sit there and not be used, like half the channels on vt were. I really don't see a point in this either, except to say that it gives users more options. As for kicking someone off the system, I don't believe that should happen, but these were all things Chriss just sort of did without informing the staff, or me anyway.
I made the age-limited conferences to mimic what was on Ventrilo. I agree with what people have said about setting the minimum age as 21, and have dropped it to 18. If the feature isn't used, I'll remove conferences 7-9 or open them up to everyone. I'll also see about changing things so that a user is moved back to the conference menu rather than being kicked off the system. The idea of adult-only conferences is something that I've mentioned off and on with people for quite a while.
I don't see anything wrong with having some conferences that are for adults only, but I'm glad to see the age level dropped to 18.
like i said before. it's Chris's decision. And he will take care of it and i'm sure has done it for a reason. I still don't see how it's not saying clicks are a plus here! It's also going against the were not your parents. someone is babysitting making sure they are of age or not!
Like Scott said, if you dont' like it then don't use it. Those that said we need it for more regular conferences. When have you came on and zbp has been completely full? there's always plenty of rooms available. So i don't think that's the case here at all.
my rambling, for what it's worth. hehehe
Shea
It's still stupid! lol
lmao
I believe that this is discrimination based on age, and should be done away with immediately.
pure bogus..
well at least the age limit has been dropped to 18, but i still don't see the point if private confrences have a feature where age limits can be set on them.
It will allow us to avoid you tyler, so it's a good thing.
Setting age limits on private conferences, in my mind, makes adult only public conferences superfluous. However, I'm much, much more annoyed that with the exception of this board, the adult public conferences are not documented...One guy still thought the age was 21, and was rather rude to me.
The adult-only public conferences should be done away with because they are discriminating based on age. We are all people, and as earlier posters have stated, if you don't like what someone is saying in a conference, you can leave said conference and go somewhere else.
fucking lmao kev
For what it's worth, here's my opinion:
1 I think if you're offended by who/what's being said in a conference, then you should leave.
2 If you are an annoying little 13 year old, (nothing against 13-year-olds, as I was once one, too), and you just wanna be a general pain in the ass then you should be kicked off the system.
3 I don't think an age-limit will solve the problems of drama-queens/kings, perverted teens/adults, and obnoxious teens/adults. Basically, I'm saying that any age group can be obnoxious, perverted, drama-seeking, and a pain in the ass. I don't plan on using it uqless it's the only room where I can have a decent conversation.
i suppose these rooms are a way for standard members to have a somewhat private chat. but these rooms don't appear to be used much.
i didn't even know these rooms existed until i saw someone was in conf9 and then i was like "hey, what the hells going on? i thought there were only 5 rooms". i didn't even know they had age restrictions on them until i tried to enter one of them and got a message saying: "sorry, you do not meet the minimum age required to enter this conference." i think these rooms should be documented a bit better.
i don't know about private conferences because i've never been in to one and i'm still not premium *cries* so i can't create my own. but if they already have an age limit feature, then this kinda defeats the object of these rooms (with the exception of standard members who can't create private conferences).
these are my opinions anyway.
PS. i'm glad the age limit is 18 instead of 21 because that's the age limit here in england, UK.
I do think that if you are going to have these roms then you really should do something for us teens as well. I mean, what if ywe don't want a bunch of adults coming in and annoying us. I think that there should be one adult conf, and one under 18 conf and then just simpley leave it. You don't need three of these things. I've never seen all three of them used up so why bother waisting resources?
i agree with the last post. they could have confs 1 to 6 as standard public conferences, conf7 for under 18's, conf8 for over 18's and 9 to access private conferences.
I think age restriction is a bit pointless especially since you can change your birthday very easily. I don't see those conferences ever getting used and personally i think it a bit odd that they have a private conference option in the middle of nine conference options, rather than having it as the * key or something. It jsut doesn't go in order at all. Not only that, Chris N hasn't even updated the voice greeting in the 11 months that these conferences have existed, so nobody really knows about them until they either see this topic, or see someone in one of them, which of course, doesn't happen very often. As for setting age restrictions on private conferences, I think that is absolutely ridiculous, and will only lead to exclusion of people under the age of 18. I haven't seen the administration menu for a private conference myself, and personally think that your best bet for a good conferencing sollution would be free conference pro, or VCOA... after they fix their sign up page. and considering that both give you your own hone number, web control, blocking by phone number, and the option to have a custom greeting on your phone number, and they're completely free, they definitely beat the private conferencing over here. I think age restriction is absolutely pointless. As people have previously stated, if you don't like the things that are said in a conference, leave the room,. I mean, maybe there should be certain boards on the site that only people over 18 should go on, if we're going to take that kind of outlook on things.
